Steam locomotive
Rides
Watch the engine driver and his stoker at work up close. Experience real steam locomotive technology up close and get to know the country and its people “from a different perspective” during the train ride. The minimum age for a train ride is 10 years. Participation is only possible after prior registration with our reservation department. Take the opportunity to ride on a locomotive during special trips, children’s and station festivals: young and old get the chance to ride on a locomotive for a brief moment.
Steam locomotive rides can be booked all year round.

Steam locomotive
Experience weekend
Accompany the engine driver on a steam locomotive for two days to gain an insight into the operation, maintenance and care of the locomotive. Starting with various explanations of the history, the operating procedures of the railroad and the Molli vehicles, a short theoretical introduction to the locomotive technology and a tour of the locomotive and carriage shed at Kühlungsborn West station follow. You will then ride in the driver’s cab of the locomotive as it transports the scheduled trains along the line and see how the locomotive is supplied with water and coal at the terminus stations. At the end of the course, each participant receives a certificate and a souvenir gift.
The courses take place from May to June and in September and October. You can choose between the course options Friday and Saturday or Friday and Sunday.
